Papa John Schnatter claims to have damaging recording of Laundry Service execs - AdAge.com

laundry.indah.link

Schnatter first sued Laundry Service and its parent company, Wasserman Media Group, in late 2019, months after a story was published in Forbes alleging he used the n-word during a media-training phone call with Laundry Service that occurred on May 22, 2018. In the wake of the report, Schnatter exited the chairman role of the pizza chain and was soon removed from Papa John’s marketing materials.

Schnatter's original lawsuit alleges that the agency leaked details of the call to Forbes, and that his comments were taken out of context. He further claimed that Wasserman CEO Casey Wasserman told Steve Ritchie, Papa John’s then-CEO, “that he would ‘bury the founder’ if Laundry Service was not paid $6 million.”

Today’s press release references a recording of the May 22, 2018 call between Schnatter and the agency—but the timing of the alleged “hot mic” comments is not clear. The release alleges that “Laundry Service violated its contractual obligations and acted against its responsibilities to help enhance Mr. Schnatter's reputation.” Schnatter states he has detailed allegations in a “proposed amended complaint” that was “filed partially under seal.”

In the lawsuit filed in December 2019, Schnatter sued for breach of contract, tortious interference with prospective economic advantage, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Jason Stein left Laundry Service in mid-2018. He is now founder and general partner of a private equity company called SC.Holdings, according to his LinkedIn page.

Laundry stripping is a TikTok trend with ugly side effects - Yahoo Lifestyle

laundry.indah.link

“Laundry stripping” has been around for a while, . but TikTok has just caught on to the concept of throwing fabrics into a bathtub and adding a few key ingredients to let it sit there for several hours. stirring it every so often like a stew. The most satisfying part of the process is, undoubtedly, seeing how much dirt and grime comes out of the fabrics and into the water — . a crucial step you miss when you use a measly washing machine. To try laundry stripping yourself, you’ll need Borax, powdered laundry detergent, washing soda (sodium bicarbonate) and a bathtub or another large container. Before you try this out on any of your own fabrics, though, consider what experts have to say about it. “I would not recommend that people do laundry stripping regularly,” Tide senior scientist Jennifer Ahoni said

Oxwash Partners With EAV Solutions To Help People Do Laundry Sustainably - CleanTechnica

laundry.indah.link
Bicycles

Published on October 30th, 2020 | by Johnna Crider

October 30th, 2020 by

Oxwash is a laundry and dry cleaning startup that brands itself as “space age,” with the goal of disrupting the traditional laundry service. It is making progress on that goal through its new partnership with EAV Solutions. Through this partnership, EAV bikes will be added to Oxwash’s existing fleet of electric cargo bikes.

The EAV 2Cubed bike, a zero-emissions cargo bike with a capacity of 2.0m³, will enable Oxwash riders to deliver higher volumes of laundry. This partnership comes as demand for Oxwash in London is growing rapidly. Oxwash found that the agility, visibility, and enclosed cab of the EAV quadricycles create the perfect features for Oxwash as it expands its team of riders.

Oxwash also noted that it found that EAV’s cargo bikes, designed with Oxwash’s signature bright blue, have been shown by academic studies to be 85% more efficient than traditional diesel vans — especially for urban last-mile deliveries. Also, the new electric bikes don’t add to the continuous growth of traffic congestion. The bikes are easily charged by 100% renewable energy sources and produce no CO2 or NOx emissions.

Oxwash was founded in 2018 and has raised £1.75 million in 2020 to launch its software-enabled “Lagoons” in Cambridge and London. Lagoons are what the company called its first washing hubs, which were funded with a £300,000 pre-seed round.

CEO and Founder of EAV, Adam Barmby, shared his thoughts about the partnership between the two companies. “Oxwash and EAV have a strong synergy in our engineering ethos and vision to disrupt logistics and the circular economy. We’re excited to collaborate on the future of urban logistics and reducing waste in the laundry and dry-cleaning sector.”

Kyle Grant, CEO and Founder of Oxwash, spoke about using the power of science to take on the laundry industry. “We are harnessing the power of science to overhaul an outdated and highly polluting industry. Traditional methods can only go so far and have taken their toll on the planet. The zero-emissions EAV bikes are the cutting edge in sustainable local goods transport, and we are proud to have them as a partner on our journey to bring truly sustainable laundry to everyone.” Just recently, Kyle Grant was selected as Forbes Europe’s 30 under 30.

Grant also pointed out how important Oxwash’s customers are to the company and how the EAVs help serve them better. “Our customers are central to everything we do, and the cutting-edge EAVs will allow us to transport more than double our usual laundry capacity, for both bags and hanging items, per journey. This added efficiency means our customers benefit from more flexible delivery and pickup times. With more cities now introducing congestion charges and low-emission zones, our model ensures that we are future-proofing our delivery routes for our customers so that their service remains reliable and unparalleled.”

The heart and soul of Oxwash is sustainability, and its core focus is to target pollution. By partnering with EAV, it is also including roadside pollution as a type of pollution it is aiming to reduce. In a press release emailed to me, the following statement was shared by the company:

“The current industry is very polluting, using systems that shed harmful chemicals and synthetic non-biodegradable fibers into the local water system and oceans on a wider scale. The Oxwash process is nontoxic and saves up to 60% of the water consumption versus a typical domestic or commercial washing machine. On average we save 174kg/CO2 per tonne of laundry washed, 25 litres of water per wash, and prevent 100million plastic microfibers from going out into our oceans each day.”

Space Age Laundry Cleaning

Oxwash takes the water that was used in a previous wash, sterilizes it, and reuses it for the next cycle. This saves up to 60% of the water consumption compared to a typical commercial washing machine. After this, Oxwash uses a microfiber filtration system to filter the reclaimed water and captures over 95% of all the fibers that have been shed during washing. This prevents plastic pollution of the waterways and drinking water.

In order to disinfect and sanitize the water, Oxwash uses ozone that is generated using a blend of electricity and oxygen from the air we breathe. Adding in automation, Oxwash is able to dose the right amount of biodegradable detergent and prevent surplus chemical usage. Chemical disinfects, the website notes, increase the hygiene of the wash cycles while also preventing the colors from running. Oxwash is in the process of expanding its services from the UK to cities in the US and throughout Europe.

Building Character - The Laundry Building Wins An Orchid Award - Coronado Eagle and Journal

laundry.indah.link

The Hotel del Coronado is an architectural icon of the island, but did you know it was the Del’s Laundry Building that won a publicly nominated Orchid Award for its recent renovations?

For the past decade the San Diego Architectural Foundation (SDAF) has run the Orchids & Onions program which turns to the public to nominate the buildings that make San Diego memorable in either a good…or not so good…way. According to SDAF’s website, the aspects that make a building an Orchid are as follows: “Exemplifies good place making, i.e. it is a functional and memorable place or space to be, contributes to its surrounding context and adds to community character, skillfully and thoughtfully detailed and crafted – showing respect for materials and the community, expresses something relevant to our time and place – San Diego, 2019 as well as its function, provides social and economic benefit to San Diegans, encourages social interaction or a quiet moment, elicits a sense of civic pride, is technologically or environmentally innovative, and supports community building.”

David Marshall of Heritage Architecture & Planning served as the historic consultant on the Laundry Building project and was pleased to hear about the positive reaction from the public to the updates made to the building. “I read about it on the O&O website after the ceremony. Anyone from the public can nominate an Orchid or an Onion. Thankfully people love the Laundry Building, so we avoided the dreaded Onion Award.”

Working with OBR Architecture, Marshall helped modernize the building to be used as an administrative and event space over the course of about a year. “Our goal was to modernize the building and create an attractive work environment while celebrating the building’s character and history.”

Originally built in 1919, the Laundry Building served as a laundry facility for not only the hotel but for residents of Coronado until 1940. During this time laundry trucks would make their rounds across the island delivering laundry to and from the building. In 2018 development on renovations began as part of the Del’s $200 million Master Plan to expand and redevelop the hotel. The renovation team presented their plans for the Laundry Building as part of the Del’s Master Plan to the Coronado Design Review Commission. With Marshall’s background as current Chair of the American Institute of Architects San Diego Preservation Committee, the history of the building was never neglected in the process of redesign. “The most important historic features we preserved were the red brick walls, wood windows and clerestory rooftop windows. We also were able to retain many of the interior features, like the wood floors, signs, office partitions, and the overhead laundry conveyor system which is quite a conversation piece,” Marshall notes. “Luckily it wasn’t in the way and now it looks like an elaborate contemporary art installation.”

That said, there were elements that were in need of repair and necessary updates that were worked into the existing structure. According to Marshall, “The biggest change was revealing the red brick front façade which had been painted white many years ago.” Aside from broken bricks and mortar that needed replacing, as well as new electrical, lighting, and air-conditioning elements, Marshall also mentioned the way the space was changing purpose for some interior additions. “Modifications to the interior were more dramatic because the use had changed from laundry to offices. Restrooms, meeting rooms and a kitchen were added…the building was seismically retrofitted, too.”

Renovations were completed in July of 2019 and Laundry Building is currently in use as an administrative space while work on other buildings of the Del are underway. “Once the building has completed its time as construction offices,” Marshall says, “it will be opened up as an event space for hotel guest and others. I think it will be a popular spot for dinners, meetings and even wedding receptions. The Laundry Building has so much character and so many stories to tell.”

The Laundry Building’s lauded Orchid Award would suggest the public is eager to enjoy the fresh appeal of this historic space as well.

3 Michigan health systems unveil $48M shared laundry facility - Becker's Hospital Review

laundry.indah.link

Three Michigan health systems have unveiled a shared $48 million laundry facility to ensure patients and providers have adequate supplies of clean gowns, bed linen and more, the health systems said Oct. 28.

Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and Saint Joseph Mercy Health in Canton said the laundry facility washes, presses and folds 700,000 pounds of laundry every week. Located in Detroit, it has the capacity to service 78 million pounds of healthcare linens per year.

Ample supply of clean, sanitized scrubs for providers and fresh gowns and bed linens for patients is just as critical as personal protective equipment like face masks and gloves, the health systems said in a news release. With COVID-19 on the rise in Michigan and flu season approaching, the health systems expect an increased demand for laundry services.

"Laundry may not seem like an exciting thing, but this project is so good for our city in so many ways. It's making sure our front-line health care workers and the patients they serve have gowns and linens cleaned to the highest standards as we battle COVID-19," said Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. "It also has taken another parcel of vacant land and put it back to productive use that benefits the community and employs more Detroiters. I'm grateful to Henry Ford Health System, Michigan Medicine, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and the Metropolitan Detroit Area Hospital Services for this investment in our city and its people."

As one of the largest shared medical laundry facilities in the country, the facility is expected to achieve both savings from more efficient operations and to better meet the needs of the three health systems, according to the news release. It employs about 150 workers, 83 of which are new hires.

Landi Renzo Donates CNG Pickup Truck to Laundry Truck LA - NGT News

laundry.indah.link

Landi Renzo USA (LRUSA) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) have partnered with The Laundry Truck LA (TLTLA) to unveil the organization’s newest trailer which will provide free mobile laundry services to unhoused individuals in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Landi Renzo USA donated a converted CNG Ford F-250 pickup truck equipped with the company’s Eco Ready compressed natural gas (CNG) system to assist with TLTLA’s efforts. The addition of the truck will help TLTLA expand its reach to more people in need while reducing its environmental impact and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Earlier this year, SoCalGas donated $25,000 to TLTLA to support rising demands for personal care and laundry services.

The trailer is fully equipped with five sets of washers and dryers, a folding station and a water heater. With the addition of the new trailer, TLTLA is expecting to complete over 10,000 loads of laundry by the end of the year.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to give back within our local community,” says Andrea Landi, president of Landi Renzo USA. “SoCalGas and the Laundry Truck LA should be proud of the work they’ve done to help people in need. Because the Laundry Truck LA operates in close quarters with the homeless, having a clean-burning truck is just icing on the cake.”

TLTLA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free mobile laundry services for those in need throughout Los Angeles and is one of the first mobile laundry services in the country to serve the homeless population. With the help of additional sponsors and partners, TLTLA has successfully expanded its operations to meet growing demands.

What is Laundry Stripping? The bizarre new trend taking TikTok by storm - Dexerto

laundry.indah.link

Twitch streamer and chess guru Alexandra Botez wasn’t going to put up with trolls asking to see her feet during a live stream.

During the broadcast, as Botez was challenging players in chess, a viewer decided to ask the streamer if they could see her feet – something that promoted a hilarious response from Alexandra.

“Sir, you’re not seeing… you know what,” the frustrated streamer began, before pausing with a smirk. “I’m going to show you what’s on my feet, and you’re going to stop asking.”

With that, the 25-year-old lifted up her shoe and showed it off in front of the camera.

Alexandra Botez holds a shoe
Twitch/BotezLive
Mess with the Botez, get the shoe.

“I’m wearing these clogs, okay? This is all you need to know. And if you would ask me that in person, I would turn into Romanian Botez,” she added.

Next, Alexandra pretended to smack the person with her clog while rambling on in Romanian.

“And I would hit you in the head with my shoe,” she warned. “And you wouldn’t see feet because your vision would be blurry.”

Amusingly, after that whole rant, the streamer went right back into challenging whoever she wanted to play next, as if the whole foot fiasco never even happened.

Fans have requested feet before

This isn’t the first time that Alexandra has been asked to show her feet, oddly enough. Earlier in 2020, a viewer donated $3 and asked the streamer to reveal her highly fetishized body part.

Instead of showing them off, however, she simply drew a foot on a piece of paper and held it up for the camera, which confused her two on-stream guests.

“Someone donated to show feet,” she explained, prompting some laughs in the chat.

While Botez has handled the foot remarks quite well thus far, the next time someone dares to ask the chess queen to slip off her shoes to expose her feet, they could be getting a clog to the skull.

Environmentally conscious laundry services on Orcas Island | Women in Business... - Islands' Sounder

laundry.indah.link

Daniela Wagner has done well around the globe starting businesses that meet a critical need.

“I have a knack for getting things off the ground and pulling them out of thin air and making them a success,” said Wagner, owner and operator of Eco Cleaners Orcas Island. “For this, I wanted techniques that were as pure and harmless as possible.”

Now in her second year of operation, she provides laundry and dry cleaning services using only environmentally conscious products and practices.

“It feels really rewarding because I have so many people who come in here and the first words out of their mouth are ‘thank you so much for being here,’” Wagner said.

She uses a fleet of high-efficiency household washers and dryers and handwashes more delicate items.

“It’s as gentle as we possibly can be while achieving best possible results. There us no need to compromise quality for eco-friendliness — quite the contrary,” she said. “The power cost and water usage are low because household machines are a lower voltage than industrial machines.”

Wagner doesn’t use any chemicals in her dry cleaning, instead opting for high-end professional steaming machines. Rather than detergent, she uses magnets that go into the water, which changes the surface tension.

“It’s the same thing soap does,” she said. “If I have to use detergent, it’s biodegradable. I use an enzyme for stain treatment … these techniques go back thousands of years. I put a lot of research to find the perfect mix of technology and tried and true processes. This is going back to what is normal but it’s with better technology.”

Currently, Wagner is doing all of the work herself, although she looks forward to hiring an employee or two. Although it fluctuates, her clientele is usually split evenly down the middle between lodging establishments and island residents.

“We have a water problem on Orcas Island and there were laundry services needed for hotels and b&bs and for private customers. This laundry is going to be done on Orcas anyway, and I might as do it with less water, electricity and less soap. It’s really important to me what goes into the wastewater,” she said.

Originally from Germany, where she opened a cafe and bar that is still in existence today, Wagner’s background is in designing high-end evening wear and wedding dresses. She also offers alterations and sewing at Eco Cleaners.

“I like textiles and I am used to working with silk and luxurious materials,” she said.

While living in Vermont for eight years, Wagner designed for Sajen jewelry. Prior to moving to Orcas in 2018, she lived in South America where she opened an organic skincare line in Ecuador and Uruguay.

“We made biodegradable laundry detergent for that line. It was very successful! It was half of my sales,” she laughs.

Wagner was visiting friends in Bellingham when she took a detour to Orcas Island.

“I was thinking of leaving South America, and it was either going to be the pacific northwest or Germany,” she said. “When I visited, Orcas Island informed me I would be moving here. It wielded its magic.”

In her spare time, Wagner hugs trees, meditates, spends as much time in nature as she can, creates art and designs dresses (http://www.daniwagner.com/). After her many years of being an entrepreneur, Wagner says she has learned patience and perseverance.

“Hold to your vision and do what you have to do,” she said. “It’s 2020. It’s about any little thing we can do to help nature, especially in an environment like this, which is still pristine and we need to preserve as much as possible.”

Eco Cleaners is located in the Airport Office Center, Suite A5 and A6, 1286 Mt Baker Road. Call 360-202 6226 or visit www.ecocleanersinc.com for more information.

Laundry room renovations you'll love | Hancock County - Therogersvillereview

laundry.indah.link

Does it seem like your hamper is always full and the washing machine is running constantly? You may not be imagining it. Laundry Butler for You, a wash, dry and fold service, says the average household washes 50 pounds of laundry a week and 6,000 articles of clothing every year. Families with children at home are doing laundry most often, and those with pets may find there is ample laundry to wash as well.

With so much laundry being generated, homeowners may want to consider paying extra attention to the space in the house where their clothing is being cleansed. Laundry room renovations may not top homeowners’ priority lists, but it may be time to give these rooms another look.

Assess your equipment

If your appliances are aging, a laundry room renovation can start with an investment in new appliances. New models have large capacity loads, tend to be energy-efficient and could have innovative features that help fit with your laundry lifestyle. Purchasing front-loading models also can free up design space, as you can install a counter directly above the units, saving room for other items like drying racks.

Figure out your room needs

A laundry room need not be limited to laundry only. Many homeowners make large laundry rooms catch-all spaces that can serve as utility or mud rooms, pantry overflows, or off-season storage areas. Consider the functions you want the room to serve and include those ideas in your designs.

Add some natural light

If possible, include a window in your laundry room. Natural light can help make the room more enjoyable. It also can help you identify stains on clothes that need to be addressed and make it easier to fold matching items like socks.

Think about a utility sink

Many washing machines drain out directly to waste pipes in the floor or wall, but you also can opt to have them empty into a utility sink. This sink also provides a convenient place to handwash items, clean tools or paintbrushes, or store items that perhaps you do not want to bring into a bathroom or kitchen sink.

Include some flair

This utilitarian space need not be boring or bereft of design elements. Mirror your home’s style in the laundry room, and include wall hangings, plants, accent items, and even task lighting. Play up certain features with a bold floor tile or brightly colored walls.

Clinton Hill Two-Bedroom With Dining Room, Garden, Laundry Asks $3,500 a Month - Brownstoner

laundry.indah.link

There’s a private garden, in-unit laundry and the possibility of home office space in this Clinton Hill apartment. Located on the parlor level of an early 20th century limestone, it also has a few original features intact after a renovation gave it a crisp-white finish.

The Beaux-Arts-style house at 64 Lefferts Place isn’t in a New York City historic district, but it is part of the National Register Clinton Hill South Historic District. The report identifies the house as a circa 1905 Axel Hedman design.

The floor-through apartment is set up with a bedroom at either end with a dining room, living room and kitchen in the center. The windowed living room faces the rear garden and has parquet floors with an inlaid border and a fireplace (presumably decorative) with original wood mantel and yellow tile.

There’s also a beamed ceiling that, like the rest of the walls and woodwork, including the mantel, is painted white. The living room is big enough to accommodate a desk, and space for one might also be found in a number of other nooks and crannies throughout the unit.

French doors with a glass transom lead into the dining room, which has a picture rail and modern brass and glass chandelier. In the center of the house, it has no windows, but might make a good spot for bookcases.

The L-shaped kitchen is off the living room and has slab-front white cabinets, a subway tile backsplash and a stacked washer/dryer. There’s also a door leading to the rear garden.

The largest bedroom is off a foyer at the front of the unit, separated from the rest of the apartment by another set of French doors. Not original to the house, the partition with its doors, windows and transoms isn’t full height — it stops at the picture rail to preserve the plaster cornice detail above. There’s no closet but the bedroom, set in the front bay of the house, is large enough for an armoire.

The smaller bedroom, big enough for a queen bed, according to the listing, is in a rear extension at the back. It has windows on two exposures and a closet. The windowless full bath is adjacent.

A stone-paved patio out back has raised planting beds and room for a table for some outdoor dining.

Brownstoner featured the three-family house when it was on the market back in 2016 for $2.395 million, before it was renovated.

The apartment is now listed with Claire McFeely of Compass for $3,500 a month. Worth the rent?

Health systems join forces with shared laundry facility in Detroit - Modern Healthcare

laundry.indah.link

Since opening June 1, a $48 million laundry facility in downtown Detroit shared by three health systems has been running two shifts over a six-day work week.

With COVID-19 cases on the rise in Michigan and flu season approaching, health care executives said in a Wednesday morning news conference that demand for clean laundry has become even more important. Each week, the 115,000-square-foot facility is expected to wash, press and fold 700,000 pounds of laundry.

In 2019, Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan Medicine and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, both based in Ann Arbor, agreed to invest in an eco-friendly laundry facility. It is located on a 10-acre industrial site at 1150 Elijah McCoy Drive, near the Henry Ford Hospital campus, north of I-94 and west of the Lodge Freeway.

Henry Ford Health acquired the longtime vacant parcel in the Northwest Goldberg neighborhood in 2017.

"Our collaboration is a true model for how health care institutions can work together to achieve efficiencies and spur economic renewal in our region," Bob Riney, Henry Ford's president of health care operations and COO, said in a statement. "Laundry service is critical to our everyday operations for our patients and team members, and this investment will have meaningful impact for years to come."

"We've already seen the benefits of partnering with peer health systems to improve service and reduce costs," Tony Denton, senior vice president and COO of the U-M Health System for Michigan Medicine, said in a statement. "I am proud of our collective efforts to invest in a modern facility, new jobs and to provide highly reliable service. Locating the facility in Detroit supports U-M's commitment to the city. While it all takes place behind the scenes, laundry and linen services are essential to the daily provision of health care services, with emphasis on patient and caregiver safety."

The facility employs about 150 workers, 83 of whom are new hires. All positions pay competitive wages with health care and retirement benefits. Effective Nov. 1, new hires will earn an hourly rate of $15.04 after a 90-day probationary period.

"Laundry may not seem like an exciting thing, but this project is so good for our city in so many ways. It's making sure our front-line health care workers and the patients they serve have gowns and linens cleaned to the highest standards as we battle COVID-19," Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said in a statement. "It also has taken another parcel of vacant land and put it back to productive use that benefits the community and employs more Detroiters."

The laundry facility is owned and operated by Metropolitan Detroit Area Hospital Services, a Michigan nonprofit corporation founded by the hospital systems.

"This laundry facility illustrates how the health care industry can come together to share efficiencies that lower the cost of health care, and ultimately, improve patient experience," Rob Casalou, president and CEO, Trinity Health Michigan, said in a statement. Saint Joseph Mercy Health system is one of two divisions of Livonia-based Trinity Health Michigan.

"Some of the employees at the facility have worked there for decades, and we are thrilled that this facility is now providing more jobs in a state-of-the-art, safe work environment in Detroit."

Being married and dirty laundry - Kentucky Today

laundry.indah.link

By DAWN REED

In Titus 2:3-4, the apostle Paul instructed the older women to teach the younger women to love their husbands.  I’m one of those “older women” nowadays.  One of my favorite things is helping young marrieds know that they can make it-with God’s help. Not that I have it all together; I don’t.  But I know what God can do!

My beloved and I just celebrated our 40th anniversary.   If you’d been around back in 1980, you probably wouldn’t have put any money on us.  I had so much baggage I could have worked for American Tourister.  He had issues, too.  We were quite young and ignorant.  Didn’t have much sense.  Didn’t have any money, either.

I wish I could tell you that I’ve always kept my cool over the years.  That I took the high road and went to my prayer closet when things were tough.  That was something I had to learn.  While I know NOW that’s the best plan of action, there was one time when I lost my ever-lovin’ mind.

I had been at home most of the day.  In between dropping off and picking up our kids at school, I was babysitting two other children.  They were gone and I was getting supper ready, going over homework and such.  There was a ladies’ meeting at church I needed to get to ASAP.

After apparently an excruciating day, my beloved came home late from working at KY Power.  Long hours and tough customer situations continued to hang over him.  He was frustrated, tired and in a terrible mood.  Getting out of his truck, it played out like a country music video…

When he reached the garage, he saw stuff that didn’t belong to him.  It all belonged to ME.  There was a car seat, boxes and other clutter that just rubbed him the wrong way.  He gathered up every single item and parked it right inside the laundry room door.  (There was quite a pile.)

I was innocently inside the house with HIS children, oblivious to the mountain that was forming in the other room.  “YOUR STUFF IS IN MY WAY!” he barked loudly, closed the door, and went back to his business.

My head started spinning and it felt like my hair was catching on fire.  “You did not just do that!” I thought as I quickly walked to his closet.  “Two can play that game!” I grumbled and grabbed armfuls of his dirty clothes, walked-no…STOMPED, through the house, through the garage to where he stood in the driveway.  In a moment that was not like me at all, I THREW HIS CLOTHES IN THE ROAD!!!  “Your stuff is in MY way!” I bellowed as I marched back through the garage and into the house.

I hurried to get ready for my ladies’ meeting at the church.  As quickly as possible I was in the van backing out of the garage…right over his clothes!  I looked him square in the eye as I switched gears and then floored it, sending underwear, socks and other clothing flying like bullets.  I yelled something stupid out the window like, “I’m not going to be the one to pick it up!” and was gone.  I drove the minivan like I had stolen it.  What had come over me?!

Meeting over and on the way home, I wondered what I would do if the laundry was still in the road.  “I’m NOT picking it up!” I told myself and then repeated it out loud.  Pulling into the driveway, I was relieved that it was all gone!  Not a sock, pair of underwear, or shirt was to be seen.  Whew!

That was 25 years ago and the only time it ever happened!  Thank the Lord, we’ve both grown up plenty over the years!  God has been our glue through thick and thin.  These days, we try to focus on 1 Corinthians 13:  “Love is patient, love is kind”…and I try to keep the dirty laundry INSIDE the house!

The devil always fights a good thing.  He doesn’t want any family to stay together or for homelife to be easy.  Newlyweds or oldy-weds, you can do this!  Press on and do NOT give up!  NOTHING is impossible with God (Luke 1:37)!

Gophers coordinator Joe Rossi has a laundry list of things to improve on defense - Grand Forks Herald

laundry.indah.link

The Gophers allowed seven plays of 20-plus yards, 481 total yards, six touchdowns and forced only one punt, with no takeaways, in a 49-24 loss to the now-13th-ranked Wolverines.

Minnesota had to replace seven starters from 2019, and it showed early as three of the newcomers — defensive end Esezi Otomewo, linebacker Cody Lindenberg and safety Tyler Nubin — had breakdowns to allow Michigan’s Zach Charbonnet to run straight down the field untouched for a 70-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

“Some of the guys were under the lights for the first time,” Rossi said. “I think there was some hesitation on their part on some diagnosing of plays and reaction. I think sometimes that is to be expected — not to be tolerated.”

Rossi identified key issues his defense had on Saturday:

  • “We played hard, but not hard enough.”
  • “We need to communicate better. It definitely needs to be louder and more urgent and more crazy, so to speak.”
  • “In instances, we need to do a better job of setting the edge.
  • “In instances, we need to do a better job of diagnosing plays and fitting runs.”

Lindenberg was the biggest surprise starter on Saturday. The true freshman was not a highly rated recruit coming out of Anoka in the 2020 class. But with Braelen Oliver injured, Lindenberg beat out older players Donald Willis and James Gordon for the job.

“Obviously, first game, there were some mistakes,” Rossi said. “Overall I thought he played well. He has a very bright future. I think he keys and diagnoses and sees things, but as you see him go, I think each week we will see him make tremendous strides.”

Another player expected to improve quickly is safety Tyler Nubin, who is stepping in for Antoine Winfield Jr. He led Minnesota with eight tackles Saturday, and fellow safety Jordan Howden was tied for second with five.

Their lower level of play, however, didn’t match those higher numbers.

“On all three levels our defense needs to be better,” Rossi said. “I need to coach better. The staff needs to coach better. The players need to play better. That wasn’t acceptable. I think in the back end (at safety), we’ve got to do a better job of taking angles. We have to do a better job of fitting runs.”

Senior cornerback Coney Durr has been encouraging Nubin, a sophomore.

“He’s going to be — I don’t tell him that — but he’s going to be a pretty good player,” Durr said. “I just try to tell him don’t try to force anything. Play within your game and just let the game come to you. … The biggest thing with us is communicating and knowing our assignments and just being able to play fast. I just feel like we need to be able to play fast and showcase our talents.”
