3 Degree Guarantee

Posted: Updated:

Laundry is a chore few of us like to do, but some don’t have access or money to do laundry. It’s a basic task that many may take for granted, but not everyone has access and in those cases, Laundry Love of Goldsboro steps in and helps out.

Laundry Love washes the clothes and bedding of individuals and families who need help all across Wayne County and they are the CBS 17 3° Guarantee charity for May 2021.

Every 1st and 3rd Monday at the wash house in Goldsboro, they help dozens of people do laundry for free. The clients range from homeless to low income to those who have just fallen on hard times.

The local charity was founded in 2017 and the national branch of Laundry Love was started in 2003.

Struggling families can have their laundry done at not cost to them and then be able to redirect their resources to more basic life necessities like food, rent or medicine.

Laundry love also works with other community services to help families in other ways they may need. They are always looking for detergent or other laundry supplies, hygiene items or even food.

Every month CBS 17 picks a different local charity to raise money and awareness for during the daily 3-Degree Guarantee.  Each day when the CBS 17 Storm Team gets the next day’s forecast correct within three degrees, we donate $100 to that charity. At the end of the month, all the money raised is totaled and presented to that month’s group.

If you would like to help support Laundry Love of Goldsboro with laundry supplies or a monetary donation, visit their website here.

800th Speed Queen-branded Laundromat Store Opens in France USA - PRNewswire

laundry.indah.link

"There is a reason why we have opened 800 stores in more than 500 cities across 27 countries in only 5 years: our concept is unique, and far more premium than any other on the market," said Marco Treggiari, director of Speed Queen licensed stores. "We design laundry spaces for today and tomorrow: bigger spaces, long-lasting, evolutive, connected, with impeccable performance, and sharing spaces. This is how we turn laundry into far less of a chore and much more into a part of the sharing economy."

Stéphane Charles, the owner of the 800th store is a serial entrepreneur, who owns 10 hair salons, a barber, and a hair wholesaler business, which caters to their needs. "Investing in self-service laundry was a natural evolution. Not only this serves my existing businesses to wash the towels of 11 salons, but also generates a full new flow of revenue with a very labour-light structure, compared to hair salons. I liked the premium concept of Speed Queen and I identified the ideal location in the middle of a retail park," Charles said. "The location secures the end-user traffic, with three equestrian centers around on top of this, so this is a solid business."

Located in the retail park, at Saint-Aubin-sur-scie, the 800th Speed Queen laundromat has it all to maximise end-user convenience: from free wifi to a large selection of 14 machines up to 24 kilos The laundromat also offers machines dedicated to animal items laundry.

"We are increasingly seeing entrepreneurs, like Mr. Charles, who seek the risk-level of real-estate investment with classic stock-market return on investment, and we have adapted our offering to meet this demand and help them expand with a connected, remotely-managed business," Treggiari said.

To support this momentum, the Speed Queen Licensed-store team has built a network of expert consultants in Europe, that guides ambitious entrepreneurs building their laundromats business, visit speedqueeninvestors.com to learn more.

About Speed Queen - Speed Queen was established 1908 in Ripon, Wisconsin, USA. Still in Ripon, that original company grew into Alliance Laundry Systems. Alliance is the world leader in commercial laundry in terms of sales, range, reach and R&D investment. Over the decades, Speed Queen has developed superior performance in results, reliability, support and overall value, to become the world Nº1 in self-service laundry.

Since 2014, Speed Queen has been the only laundry manufacturer in offering branded laundromats. More than 650 investors have already opened a Speed Queen Licensed Store in Europe. By putting all its expertise at the service of the concept, Speed Queen teams guide the laundry owners during all their project to provide premium laundromats with outstanding performance and maximum user convenience.

Tips for making laundry day more gentle on the environment – Borneo Bulletin Online - Borneo Bulletin Online

laundry.indah.link

Helen Carefoot

THE WASHINGTON POST – Laundry day isn’t exactly fun for most people, but it can be downright unpleasant for the Earth.

Washers guzzle gallons of water and dryers use up energy. Detergents and dryer sheets can release chemicals into water that has to be treated, and washing clothes can release micro-plastics that are accumulating in the world’s waterways at alarming rates.

But it’s getting easier to clean your clothes while staying green. “You do have to wash your clothes, but you can do a very good job of minimising the impact,” said associate professor of earth and environmental sciences at Vanderbilt University Jonathan Gilligan, who has studied the effects of individual actions on greenhouse gas emissions. Although one consumer’s decision to switch to a more efficient washer isn’t going to counter the cumulative effects of major industries on its own, he said, “It can have an effect.” Individual actions add up.

Here are expert-backed strategies to tweak laundry day to be greener – and less of a chore.

The machines you use have a significant effect on the amount of energy and water you save – or waste – on laundry day, experts said. Older appliances can rack up high utility bills, while newer, high-efficiency washers use less water and energy with lower temperatures and higher spin speeds.

In most cases, front-loading washers will be more efficient than top-loading ones, because the drum’s position can create a faster spin cycle. “If the washer is able to wring out most of the water from the clothes, then the dryer is going to have significantly less work to do,” which saves energy, said Editorial Director Jessica Petrino of AJ Madison, a home and kitchen appliances store based in New York City.

Clothes should come out of the washer damp, not soaked. According to Petrino, front-loaders with about 1,200 revolutions per minute (RPM) or more are considered to be high-efficiency.

Many dryers now have moisture sensors that help detect water on clothes. Heat pump dryers, which are popular in Europe, are another option; they use less energy than standard models by re-circulating air within the drum, which conserves energy. Petrino said they aren’t popular in the United States (US), because US appliances generally are much larger than European ones, but she predicts that the technology will be adapted in the next decade.

In many cases, it makes more sense economically and environmentally to upgrade machines that are more than 10-years-old, experts said. They recommend machines certified by the US government’s Energy Star programme. Energy Star-certified washers use about 25 per cent less energy and about 33 per cent less water than standard models, the programme’s website said, and Americans could save more than USD3.3 billion per year in bills and cut more than 19 billion pounds of annual greenhouse gas emissions if every washer bought in the US carried the rating.

The Energy Star programme maintains an extensive database of home appliances with detailed product specifications online(energystar.gov), plus a tool to search for rebates and claim tax credits for energy-efficient appliances.

And remember: A clean machine is an efficient machine. Run white vinegar through a cleaning cycle to clear out product residue and bacteria when it gets stinky. (Founder of Toronto cleaning service Clean My Space Melissa Maker said to do this two to four times a year to be safe.) Once or twice a year, clean the dryer duct and the washer’s drain pump. And empty the dryer’s lint trap before every load.

Even the most efficient machine will still waste water and electricity if you don’t know how to operate it properly, Maker said. Auto cycles can add too much water or heat. Read the instruction manual; unless something is really soiled, a basic cold- or warm-water cycle is sufficient to clean in combination with a high-efficiency machine and detergent.

Avoiding the dryer altogether is one of the biggest energy-saving switches you could make, and it could help clothes last longer. The dryer “adds abrasion, and there’s no real way to avoid that, even if you turn down the heat”, said author of Laundry Love: Finding Joy in a Common Chore Patric Richardson. Air-drying outside on a dry, sunny day using a rack or clothesline is ideal; don’t set up the rack in an area with debris, dust or excessive humidity. If wrinkles are an issue, Richardson recommends line-drying, then putting clothes in the dryer for a quick air cycle.

Stretch the time between washes by re-wearing clothes and reusing towels, which is gentler on fabrics and can help clothes last longer. Avoid small loads, but don’t crowd a machine, which can make it work harder. And take a look at the amount of detergent you’re using. Excess detergent will be harder to rinse out, leaving clothes with a crunchy feeling and extending washing and drying times.

Lastly, think about your clothes themselves. Julie Masura, who teaches environmental science at the University of Washington at Tacoma and studies marine microplastics in Puget Sound, suggests wearing natural materials to prevent micro-plastics from being carried out through wastewater; loose-weave clothing, cut edges with frays and fabrics that ball up are most likely to shed, she wrote in an email. She uses the Guppyfriend washing bag (USD34.95, guppyfriend.us) to catch errant fibres.

Co-owner Jean Calleja of the Eco Laundry Company, a sustainable wash-and-dry service in New York, said his company gives customers two options: Ecos’ hypoallergic detergent with built-in softener or the Laundress’s scented signature detergent. Both are plant-based.

But not all products are what they claim to be. Look for specific, verifiable claims, not nebulous terms such as “natural” or “eco-friendly”. Besides Good Housekeeping’s Green seal, which evaluates product performance and brands’ environmental effect, Director of the Good Housekeeping Institute’s home appliances and cleaning products lab Carolyn Forte advised looking for products with the USDA Certified BioBased label, a voluntary labelling programme that denotes products made or partly made from renewable agricultural products; the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice label highlights ingredients that are deemed safer for humans and the environment than traditional chemical ingredients.

Richardson also has an easy fix: Don’t buy products with lots of ingredients you can’t identify or pronounce. For example, instead of fabric softeners with irritating fragrances, he suggests adding white vinegar in the machine’s fabric softener cap to relax fibres without the lasting film. Wool or plastic dryer balls can be reused in place of dryer sheets to cut static. Baking soda can help with stains.

And don’t forget packaging. Powdered or solid products are easier to package and ship than liquids.

As mothers go, possums probably wouldn’t win any awards.

Baby possums ride on their mothers, but if one falls off, mom just keeps going.

That’s likely what happened to a young possum found in a basket of dirty laundry in a Fort Walton Beach garage last week.

What a Pile of Laundry Taught Me About Time Management - Business 2 Community

laundry.indah.link

Laundry: my least favorite chore, but alas it must be done if I want to wear clean clothes. Recently I was folding the mountain that had been piling up on the end of our couch when I had a revelation about time management. If I had taken the time to fold the clothes when they came out of the dryer, it would have taken less time than waiting until it piled up into an overwhelming amount of work that demanded my attention. My revelation didn’t stop there. Instead of waiting until most of our clothes need to be washed, if I run a load every day the task is more manageable and, as a bonus, we don’t run out things to wear! It all comes down to time management.

Laundry-Time-Management

Find out what a pile of laundry taught me about time management.

From tackling laundry to writing your company’s next press release, time management is about how you choose to delegate your minutes so your responsibilities don’t collect into an overwhelming amount of work.

The Importance Of Time

So often we forget time is one of our most precious resources, and in turn waste it on activities that hold no value. Once used, time cannot be regained; there is no stopping the progression of the clock. When put into this perspective it is easy to see how important time-management skills are to helping you choose the most effective ways to invest your most precious asset and see the greatest results for your business.

Time Management In Four Steps

  1. Where is your time going?

Part of effective time management is knowing exactly how to use your day. You know what time you get up and when your office hours are, but have you tracked how long you spend checking email throughout the day or the time spent asking for clarification on tasks? This infographic from Atlassian illustrates how much a person’s time at work is wasted with excessive emails, meetings and interruptions, with 60% or less time actually being spent productively!

In order to see exactly where your time is being underutilized, and what times of day you work most efficiently, create a time-management journal and record your tasks from start to finish. You will be surprised by how long you spend on “quick” activities such as email. If you are not doing well in time management, you’ll notice areas that are producing little to no value to your business. By being able to see these gaps you can fit more significant assignments into your day and avoid the ones not contributing to your success.

  1. Prioritize your workload
    time-management-record-your-time

Record when you start and stop activities to see where you spend your time.

One of the best ways to delegate your time into value-added activities is through prioritizing. This is not a new concept; however, determining what should be getting your immediate attention versus what can wait is a difficult skill to master. So, how do you figure out what is actually important when everything on your list seems to demand a top standing position? The first step is to write it all down. From there, you can determine what has the greatest impact on your business and goals. The items with the biggest influence should be at the top. A point of consideration with prioritizing is how the task is ranked with other parties involved. While an activity may not have a great effect on your goals, it could be a high-level priority for another person, such as a business partner or client. Clarifying the importance level with those you are working with will help you determine where the item should stand on your own to-do list.

  1. Create a schedule

Now that you can see where time is going and have a grasp on how to prioritize your tasks, creating a schedule is the next step. This is a perfect opportunity to grab that time-management journal you recorded activities in from step one. Using this to see when you work most productively during the day, schedule the tasks that have the most value within those productive windows and fill in the remaining spots based on priority level. Every day before you get started, create this schedule to see where your time needs to be spent. In fact, you could even do this the night before so you can jump right in the next day. By doing this every day you visualize where your time is being put, plus it will help you become more accountable on how you spend your precious resource.

  1. Stay flexible

No matter how much you manage and organize your time, this is life and as the saying goes, “life happens.” There are going to be events and issues that come up requiring your immediate response. Whether it’s a last-minute interview with a reporter or a negative comment on your Facebook page that you need to address right away, no amount of planning will prevent this from happening. So, what can you do? Adjust your priorities and schedule to reflect the new request. Being flexible in regards to your time management will help alleviate stress when situations arise that cause you to re-work your assignments.

Tools For Time Management

From electronic to the old-fashioned paper and pen, there are a number of tools to help you manage your time effectively; everyone has their preference on what they use, so you’ll need to find out what works best for you.

The most common time-management tool you will find is a calendar. There is nothing wrong with a paper calendar and manually entering in your day-to-day tasks; for many, the physical connection of writing helps them stay on track. If you are open to electronic calendar systems, Google Calendars are a great alternative. From being able to see multiple calendars and easily inviting others to meetings, to color coding events and setting reminders, there is a lot you can do with this option. What’s even better is that they are accessible on your smart phone and other mobile devices, making them convenient for traveling without the extra weight.

Additional time-management resources that are especially useful for busy entrepreneurs managing their company’s social media marketing are scheduling tools such as Hootsuite and Sprout Social. Both of these applications allow you to access multiple social media accounts at once and see everything there on your screen without logging in and out, saving you time and energy. A more valuable use of these time-management tools comes with their posting abilities. There are multiple options available to fit your company’s needs, from setting distribution schedules to creating your posts ahead of time to post on a specific day and time. When you have to make sure your posts are going out at a consistent time every day, scheduling your posts in advance will ease the headache of making sure you’re available and online as well as lighten your daily workload.

Take A Step Back

While you can be the superhero of your company who has mastered the art of time management, remember to take a step back and breathe when your schedule is particularly full of low-level priorities. No one can go on forever at the intense level of work that comes with high-priority tasks; burnout is far too often the result. When working on these high-level tasks WWR recommends to take a break every 75-90 minutes for roughly 15-17 minutes. This breather from your work will help you stay focused and clear your mind. If you were struggling on a task, coming back after a short breather can make all the difference, allowing you to clearly see the solution that was hiding behind the frustration before.

What should you do during a break? There are many great ways to take a break from playing a short game to going for a walk. In fact, if you work from home you could even fold a basket of laundry! The main point is shifting your attention from the work you were doing and taking a step back for a brief time.

While I am sure my family will appreciate having their clothes cleaned and folded on a regular schedule with better time management, the effects roll into managing business as well. I hope this article has helped you gain a better understanding on how to manage the tasks in your life while providing some useful time-management tools to get the most value from your efforts.

Makeover your laundry room with these fresh and organizational designs - Indiana Gazette

laundry.indah.link

The laundry room may not get much love in the home, but anyone with an active lifestyle can tell you it gets plenty of attention at least once a week.

From sweaty workout clothes to dirty soccer uniforms, your laundry room takes on a lot.

But what if you made the space do more than just clean your clothes?

“Most of us want welcoming and stylish laundry spaces. But getting the design right isn’t always a straightforward process. A space that’s too stylized, or not stylized enough, can quickly become unwelcoming. A more restrained approach to colors and materials usually delivers the right balance,” interior design site Houzz said.

One way to make the space welcoming is to keep it organized.

Home upgrade resource website Modernize advises homeowners to make use of vertical space and stack the washer and dryer. Doing so will provide more room for a small sink and the counter.

Another way to incorporate organization is cabinetry and shelving.

You don’t always have to enlist the help of a professional to build some either.

“Closed laundry room cabinets create a tidy, polished look, but open storage areas can also be helpful for organizing often-used items. To convert regular cabinetry into open shelving, simply remove the doors and fill in any holes left behind by hardware,” Better Homes & Gardens said.

DIY Network says you can use ready-to-assemble cabinets to save money on a pantry-area laundry room.

With this option, you don’t pay the costs for the manufacturer to assemble them. Once installed, you can place an ironing board unit on the back wall of the pantry. Finally, if your home lacks a dedicated laundry room, that doesn’t mean you can’t make space for the essentials.

Men’s buyer’s guide magazine Next Luxury says you can craft a laundry space from the hallway.

“If you want to tuck your laundry room out of sight while maintaining easy access, a hallway closet is your best bet. You can turn even a tiny closet into a small laundry room as long as the necessary utility hookups are there,” it said, noting that the most logical options are closets near the mudroom or primary bedroom.

Laundry service startup targets BnBs and other rentals - Wisbusiness.com

laundry.indah.link
Image from https://www.washbnb.com/post/invest-in-washbnb

Startup company Washbnb does what many Airbnb hosts, vacation rental property owners and boutique hotel managers don’t necessarily have the equipment or time to do — laundry.

Founder and CEO Daniel Cruz figured that out for himself when he began renting out several units through Airbnb, only to discover the laundry and linen turnover was far too much for a residential washer and dryer, or an individual person, to handle.

“I started looking into laundry solutions and trying to find a better way to do it, and I realized that there really wasn’t one, so I decided to do it myself,” Cruz said.

As suggested by its namesake, Washbnb caters to Airbnb hosts, as well as vacation rentals and boutique hotels, and takes the burden of laundry services off of their hands.

Founded amidst the beginnings of the pandemic, the business is among the semi-finalists in the 2021 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest.

Due to the pandemic, customers have been veering away from larger hotels, and are more inclined to book with Airbnb or smaller vacation rentals. Cruz explained that the demand side of Airbnb has really surged during the pandemic, while the supply side has faltered. This has created an ideal ecosystem for the startup.

“It’s been gang-busters on the vacation rental and Airbnb side,” Cruz said.

Cruz has a clear vision for the future of the company. He wants to build a community around the business, helping Airbnb hosts to provide a repeatable and high-quality stay for guests. Cruz said there is a lot to learn from the hotel industry and how hotels run laundry systems.

Cruz also believes it essential to preserve the innate “funkiness” of Airbnb. Unique properties are a large part of what drives people to book with Airbnb in the first place. However, he emphasized there are certain aspects of your stay that should never be left open to interpretation.

“When you get out of the shower you don’t want to wonder what you’re drying yourself off with, what it smells like, or who else has used it, you just want it to be super clean and white and luxurious,” he said.

The pandemic has been a deterrent for businesses everywhere. The travel industry, for obvious reasons, has been hit particularly hard. Airbnb cut 2,000 employees in May 2020 alone. However, home-sharing schemes have proven to be a much more pandemic-friendly mode of travel than large hotels or resorts. There is one caveat: How far are hosts willing to go to ensure the cleanliness of their properties during a global pandemic?

Washbnb provides pick-up and delivery of clean, high-quality linens. Unless you are an Airbnb host doing innumerable loads of laundry to keep up with the constant turnover, you may not have even imagined that this was a problem in need of fixing.

Now, more than ever, customers are preoccupied with cleanliness. Washbnb aims to provide a prompt, professional, and timely service that fills a major gap within the small-scale rental market.

The Last Time: Tommy Paul's Italian Laundry Job Gone Wrong - ATP Tour

laundry.indah.link

Tommy Paul is having a run to remember at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma, where he is into his first ATP Tour semi-final of the year. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the No. 55-ranked American in Italy – especially when laundry has been involved.

In the latest installment of our popular series, Paul reveals the last time...

I met a childhood idol?
Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick were my childhood idols in tennis. I got to do a practice week with both of them. I did one practice week in Las Vegas with Agassi and a practice week in Austin, Texas with Roddick. That was really amazing for me.

I strung a tennis racquet?
Oh man, I had to have been 15 or 16. Actually, when I was really young I used to string all my racquets. But once I turned 14 or 15, I completely stopped doing that. Could I string my racquet now? Yeah, I think so.

I made my debut at a Tour event?
This week. I’ve never been to Parma, but I actually really like it here. It’s really cool vibes, kind of like a farm town in a way but with a lot of cool restaurants in the city. I’m really enjoying it here so far.

Visited a new city for the first time for non-tennis reasons?
I went to Cabo [San Lucas, Mexico] a while back for a vacation. I don’t travel too much unless it’s for tennis, but that was probably the last new city I visited. I usually go home every time, but that’s not a new city. I like the beach and tropical vibes, so anywhere with a beach is where I go if it’s not tennis-related.

Shared a hotel room with another player?
It’s been a while… I’ve shared so many rooms, but it’s got to be at least two years now. Me and Reilly [Opelka] or me and [Taylor] Fritz or me and [Alex] Rybakov, we would always share rooms at every tournament that we went to [as juniors], but it’s been a while.

Usually it’s just a lot of fun. We always have a good time. One time with Rybakov – this was actually in Italy – we were staying at a little bed and breakfast. I remember we were washing our clothes and we put our clothes out to dry on the balcony. But overnight, the wind blew them all off the balcony and when we woke up in the morning our clothes were all over the street! We had to go out and pick them up.

Being famous helped me?
I never really drop my name anywhere, and I don’t think it would really help too much. Maybe just for getting into restaurants. It helps a little bit in Europe, for example, if you say you’re with the tennis tournament in that city. That can get you a reservation a little easier. In the States? Not so much… that doesn’t get you too far.

I achieved a personal or professional goal?
Last year, I had my goal of reaching the Top 50. I think I only got to No. 54 [last year], but I came close. I had a pretty good year and I was happy with it.

I paid money to rent a court or buy tennis balls?
I think back during the off-season. I paid to practise at Delray Beach Tennis Center, actually where the Delray Beach Open is. I’ve definitely rented a court there a few times.

I cooked for myself or others?
I probably cooked breakfast a couple of months ago, but I don’t cook much at all. I’m pretty much eating out for every single meal. [Last year] during [COVID-19] lockdown, we tried a little bit. I think we got some pre-made meals that you heat up – that was our ‘cooking’. I will do breakfast, but other than that I’m not too skilled in the kitchen.

Watched a new TV series?
I’ve started many series since, but I remember at the beginning [of the pandemic] during March or April last year, I started watching Dave. I’m pretty pumped for Season Two to come out, it’s one of my favourite shows right now. It’s about a rapper, and it’s kind of a parody. It’s funny.

I went to a concert?
Honestly, I’ve never been huge on going to concerts. I went to a music festival in Tampa one time called Sunset Music Festival. I went there at least three years ago. That was a good time. I’m a big music fan, but I don’t know… it sounds better in the headphones for me.

I attended a live sporting event other than tennis?
I have to say it was probably some NBA game. It’s been a while… This is a good question, because I used to go to a lot of NBA games, NFL games, sometimes hockey. Hockey is fun to watch live, even though I don’t really follow it too much. I know playoff hockey is going on right now, but on TV I don’t watch it too much.

In basketball I’m a Philadelphia 76ers fan and in football I’m an Eagles fan. I love college basketball though. March Madness is my favourite time of the year. I’m a big [University of North Carolina] Tar Heels fan. Those are my three big teams.

I missed a flight?
I actually don’t know if I’ve ever missed a flight in my life. I’m pretty last-second with it, but I don’t think I’ve ever missed one.

I lost something important?
Another one where I’m pretty lucky with that. I always check my tennis bag and I never lose anything. I’ve never lost my racquets, my bags, nothing. I’m pretty good about that. I’ve definitely misplaced my phone a few times or my wallet, but it always works out and I haven’t really lost too much.

Laundris™ Receives USPTO Technology Patent for Hotel Commercial Laundry Systems Inventory Management - inForney.com

laundry.indah.link

AUSTIN, Texas, May 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Laundris Corp is pleased to announce the grant of patent # 11,004,034 B2 for an RFID and IoT-based inventory management system. This system was invented by CEO Don Ward, and also Cas Milner, Joey Dominguez, Edward Casteel Milner, Jamar Beall, and Rob Garner. Patent representation was provided by Craige Thompson, and Thompson Patent Law. The patent was officially granted by the USPTO on May 11, 2021.

This innovative new technological process helps create efficiency in hotel linen inventory management and laundering, along with added features for sustainability and data management. Two main components of this tech-based inventory management system include a machine learning engine trained to dynamically predict a demand amount of the inventory in response to a set of near-future data, and generate a signal to order the amount of inventory as needed. In an illustrative example, the machine learning engine may be trained by a hotel's historical room booking data, the hotel's historical occupancy data, and corresponding inventory consumption data stored in a database. Various embodiments may enable, for example, the hotel to have better management on the status of inventories at various stages. Example of efficiencies include the revealing of sufficient inventory that was possibly previously unknown, but that may be available through the Laundris™ system. In addition, it may also provide the proper amount of inventory, and may also advantageously reduce the cost spent on unused products.

Some of the benefits and novel concepts outlined in the patent include:

1.    Advantageous optimization of linen inventory, so that hotels only need to reorder a smaller amount of inventory

2.    The Laundris™ system provides numerous positive impacts on sustainability. For example, due to less unnecessary washing and cleaning, the usage of water, electricity, and laundry detergent may be decreased. The amount of wastewater generated by the washing machine may also advantageously decreased.

3.    Accordingly, the fuel consumption may be reduced, which may also reduce the exhausts generated by the trucks, for example.

4.    A management inventory system that may provide a predicted inventory amount, the hotel may plan the reordering of the inventory in advance to make the inventory more sustainable in the supply chain.

5.    An inventory management system that may also be used in various industries. For example, restaurants, hospitals, and corporate offices may train the machine learning engine accordingly to use the trained machine learning engine to perform the prediction function to predict the amounts of various inventories.

For more information on how to leverage Laundris Corp technology for your commercial laundering and linen needs, please call us at 512.759.8227.

A Word From Laundris Corp CEO, Don Ward

"We are excited to receive this patent from the USPTO, and it validates the uniqueness of value and innovation that we bring to new and existing customers at Laundris™. Laundris ™ is not just a commercial laundry and linen provider, Laundris™ is a tech company, and our first patent clearly demonstrates our novel and innovative approach," says Don Ward, CEO of Laundris Corp.

Laundris™ Digital Linen Solutions set is a dynamic software platform designed to bring efficiency and accuracy to laundry and linen inventory management, providing article tracking, spoilage, and location status in real-time to our customers. Dealing with Angry or Difficult Laundry Customers (Part 1) - American Coin-Op

laundry.indah.link

PLANO, Texas — You’re in a service business—even if it’s technically a self-service business—and you’ve made it your mission to provide your local community with the ability to do laundry.

While many patrons will be pleased with your service, there will be times that, no matter what you or your staff do, a dissatisfied customer will grow angry or become difficult to deal with.

So what’s the best way to handle a situation like that and successfully resolve it to the satisfaction of everyone involved?

Dave Hilton is a conflict resolution consultant, coach and mediator for his company, Resolution Stream. As a young man, he was working in operations for a group of popular radio stations when he discovered he was ill-equipped to lead his team through the conflicts that arose as they fought for ratings and the ad dollars that go with them.

He took another job with a different set of stations, this time in management. Still conscious of his workplace shortcomings, he enrolled in dispute resolution classes at Southern Methodist University—and loved them. He earned a graduate certificate and then a master’s degree, ultimately making dispute resolution his full-time profession.

During the course of an average week, a small-business owner or manager is responsible for meeting a wide variety of operational demands. Laundry operators might be surprised to find out just how much time they may have to devote to conflict management in terms of dealing with angry or difficult customers, as well as staff.

“Whether you’re talking about dealing with employees, whether you’re talking about dealing with customers, the average owner or manager spends more than 40% of their time dealing with conflict and dealing with these situations,” Hilton says.

He estimates that in 90-95% of complaints, the cause stems from the customer’s expectations not being met. That could mean their favorite machine is out of order, all of the laundry carts are in use, they lost change in a vending machine, you name it.

“When you think of something that’s happened to you and why you got mad or why you got frustrated, it’s because whatever you expected to happen didn’t,” Hilton says.

Now, whether those expectations are realistic or not, that’s an entirely different conversation.

But before conflict even arises, Hilton believes it’s possible to pick up on signs that a customer may become difficult or angry if things don’t go their way.

“We all have that unconscious ability to notice or be able to identify people who might be an issue,” he says. “You might get what I call the ‘Spidey sense,’ after Spider-man, you get that sense that something’s just not quite right.

“I’m sure business owners in the coin-operated laundry industry are well aware—especially over time—they see this person is going to be a really good customer and this person probably not.”

When customers act out in your laundry, there are times it’s caused by something completely unrelated to washing or drying, Hilton says.

“Even your best customers could have something that happened to them externally. Could be a family thing, a job thing that just has them on edge, and that could cause a really good customer to become an irate customer at the drop of a hat.”

Has the coronavirus pandemic and the long periods of isolation that it’s caused made laundry customers more prone to becoming angry or difficult when a situation arises?

“It does seem, just over the last year, that people tend to get more upset about expectations,” Hilton says, and this includes things like having to wear masks while indoors.

TAKING ACTION

When approached by a customer who appears angry or disagreeable, the first and most important thing to do is to listen to them, he advises.

“Listening and understanding isn’t agreement. You can listen to and understand somebody’s problem or complaint that they have but it doesn’t mean you agree with them. But just the small thing of listening to it and acknowledging the fact” that you understand their position will go a long way in helping you resolve the matter.

When it’s your turn to speak, do so calmly. Raising your voice will only invite your customer to do the same.

“People don’t want to seem foolish. If they continue to yell while you’re being calm, they’re going to start feeling embarrassed,” Hilton says.

Check back Tuesday for the conclusion!

Five laundry hacks that will save you time - Jacaranda FM

laundry.indah.link

Nothing is more frustrating than staring at a mountain of dirty clothes or a pile of laundry that needs to be ironed.

Although there are a lot of laundry services available, doing the work yourself saves you money.

All you need to do is learn a few tricks to help make the chores easier.

These hacks below will help save you time doing laundry.

READ: See the machine that's going to change the laundry game forever

Soak the kids' clothes overnight

Kids clothes can get very dirty, especially if they play with sand or mud.

One of the best tricks to getting off the stains and ensuring that you don’t take a lot of time doing their laundry is to soak the clothes overnight or for a few hours.

Once the stains are out, it will be easier and quicker to wash the clothes.

READ: Two-ingredient laundry detergent that works

Get your kids involved

Let your kids help you sort out the clothes according to colour before you wash them.

Once the laundry is dry, you can ask them to help you sort out the socks according to colour and to fold them.

Don’t tumble dry all the clothes

One of the ways to reduce the amount of clothes that needs to be ironed is to not spin or tumble dry them.

Some wrinkles are caused due to high spin speeds.

Also be mindful of the way you hang the clothes on the laundry line. Do it in such a way you aren’t making them more wrinkled.

Hang most of the clothes

Folding takes a lot of time and one of the best ways to ensure you don’t spend hours folding the clothes is to simply hang them.

Another trick is to buy different colour hangers for your children so that each child knows his or her clothes are put on a specific hanger, especially if they share a wardrobe.

READ: Pour mouthwash into your laundry and see what happens!

Pack the clothes according to colour

A neat and well-organised wardrobe will save you the time of searching for clothes. Try to pack your clothes according to colour. This will not only make your wardrobe look good, but also neat.

NEX dry cleaning, laundry drop-off: There's an app for that - DC Military

laundry.indah.link

A new, convenient laundry and dry cleaning option has been introduced at the Navy Exchange (NEX) at NAS Patuxent River — the Tide Cleaners lockers.

Looking like exiles from a high school hallway, the row of 16 vendor-operated lockers can be found at the entrance to the NEX food court and are available for customers to use during normal NEX operating hours.

“The mission of the Navy Exchange Service Command is to provide quality goods and services at a savings to all our Sailors and military families,” explained Kathyln Daughrity, general manager of the Pax River NEX. “Following COVID-19 and the changes to laundry and dry cleaning, NEXCOM searched far and wide for new innovative concepts to bring back important quality of life services like Tide Cleaners to our Navy community.”

Customers will need to download the app — available at Apple and Android stores by searching “Tide Cleaners” — to set up an account before depositing clothing and/or household items inside the lockers for cleaning, and then submitting their order through the app. The vendor will then pick up the items from the lockers and send the customer a message noting the time/date of their return.

“The general turnaround time is two or three days, but it could be longer over weekends and holidays,” Daughrity noted. “Each locker is approximately 15-inches wide; however, one customer is permitted to utilize multiple lockers for a variety of items that may exceed one locker’s size. There’s also a bar inside for items needing to be hung.”

Services provided include dry cleaning, pressing-only, and laundering, as well and wash and fold. There’s even a choice of wash preferences for each item, including the type of Tide detergent and starch use.

“Currently, Pax River is only one of two Navy bases where NEXCOM has installed these cleaning concepts,” Daughrity said. “The vendor sets the cost per item and the price may vary based on location, so when a customer is in the app, they need to make sure they are selecting the location for ‘NEX Patuxent River’ to determine accurate pricing.”

A few examples of Pax River’s pricing are $7.99 to dry clean a blazer and $6.59 for dress pants. Laundering a pair of jeans is $5.99, overcoat/jacket $22.29, and a duvet $33.99. To press a polo shirt costs $4.49 and a blouse $4.99. Washing and folding items is $2 per pound.

During normal NEX operating hours, there are fully trained and capable NEX associates available to assist customers with any issues or questions about the Tide Cleaners lockers, or to walk them through the process.

HEX Performance® Disrupts Laundry Category With World's First EPA-Approved Antibacterial Fabric Protector for Activewear - PRNewswire

laundry.indah.link

BALTIMORE, Md., May 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- HEX Performance®, the first and only laundry regimen designed to clean, protect and prolong the life of activewear, has launched the first-of-its-kind Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved Antibacterial Fabric Protector with a continuously self-cleaning shield that kills bacteria that cause odors and prevents regrowth for up to 6 weeks. The Antibacterial Fabric Protector is now available at Target stores across the country, Target.com, Amazon and HEX Performance's website.

The Covid pandemic has accelerated the growth of the global activewear market, with the global activewear apparel market is set to grow by USD 157.1 billion and a CAGR of almost 11% during 2020-2024, according to Technavio's 2001-2025 Forecast and Analysis. With the increased desire for consumers to lead active lifestyles and the shift to greater concerns about health and sanitization, the laundry category requires innovation that is seldom seen in a field dominated by traditional brands with old technologies. So while our lifestyles and fabrics have changed, laundry care has not.

It comes down to science. Traditional laundry products were designed in the 1940s for cottons and wools that have large and open weaves. The use fillers that actually lock bacteria and odor into today's tight-knit, synthetic fabrics and fragrances to cover up what's left behind (ever wonder why it can be so hard to walk down the detergent aisle in a grocery store). So not only are body oils, sweat and bacteria trapped in the fabric, causing stains and odors, but that residue deteriorates activewear's performance and reduces its ability to stretch, breath and wick away moisture.

Antimicrobial Fabric Protector uses the patented HEX molecule to dig deep into tight-knit fabrics to kill the bacteria that causes stains and odors, in the rinse cycle. And, it also leaves a soft, invisible shield that protects fabrics and keeps bacteria from regrowing for up to 6 weeks. So, comfort and performance actually improve with each wash.

"With the activewear market at an all-time high, HEX Performance answers the needs for people who are working out and living in today's high performance fabrics. They shouldn't have to worry about bacteria and odor that are ruining their workout gear," said Drew Westervelt, Founder of HEX Performance. "The Antibacterial Fabric Protector kills bacteria that cause odors and prevents the loss of performance consumers are paying for like wickability, breathability and stretch. HEX Performance actually protects their activewear investment and keeps their clothes looking and feeling like new – wash after wash."

HEX Antibacterial Fabric Protector is available starting at $6.99 in two scents: Fresh & Clean and Fragrance Free. HEX Performance Antimicrobial Fabric Protector is designed for activewear but safe and gentle enough for all washables, great for sheets and towels, contains no bleach and leaves your washing machine odor-free.

In addition to the Antibacterial Fabric Protector, HEX Performance is releasing the latest Eco Package Liquid Laundry Detergent. Made from the same active and biodegradable formula as their current line of laundry detergents, it's now available in packaging that contains 60% less plastic than traditional 100oz detergent packaging. HEX Performance Antibacterial Fabric Protector and Eco Package Liquid Laundry Detergent can be purchased on Target.com, Amazon and hexperformance.com while the Antibacterial Fabric Protector is available at all Target stores. ABSTRACT-

Global Commercial Laundry Machinery Market to Reach $5.9 Billion by 2026

Equipment intended for commercial laundry applications is built for heavy-duty usage and high volume washing at institutions and businesses. Manufacturers of commercial laundry systems pay more attention to construction rather than aesthetics to enhance durability and reliable operations during frequent usage. The equipment is generally arranged in long rows for user convenience while keeping adequate space at the back of the equipment for maintenance and repair work. Though commercial laundry systems have limited features in comparison to domestic laundry equipment, they sometimes include features not available in their counterpart consumer laundry systems.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the global market for Commercial Laundry Machinery estimated at US$4.2 Billion in the year 2020, is projected to reach a revised size of US$5.9 Billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 3.9% over the analysis period.Washers, one of the segments analyzed in the report, is projected to grow at a 3.3% CAGR to reach US$2.7 Billion by the end of the analysis period. After a thorough analysis of the business implications of the pandemic and its induced economic crisis, growth in the Commercial Dryers segment is readjusted to a revised 3.9% CAGR for the next 7-year period. This segment currently accounts for a 21.9% share of the global Commercial Laundry Machinery market.

The U.S. Market is Estimated at $1.3 Billion in 2021, While China is Forecast to Reach $954.6 Million by 2026

The Commercial Laundry Machinery market in the U.S. is estimated at US$1.3 Billion in the year 2021. The country currently accounts for a 29.42% share in the global market. China, the world second largest economy, is forecast to reach an estimated market size of US$954.6 Million in the year 2026 trailing a CAGR of 3.7% through the analysis period.  Among the other noteworthy geographic markets are Japan and Canada, each forecast to grow at 3.6% and 3.3% respectively over the analysis period. Within Europe, Germany is forecast to grow at approximately 3.8% CAGR while Rest of European market (as defined in the study) will reach US$986.7 Million by the end of the analysis period.

Widespread deployment of commercial laundry machinery in laundromat facilities, the coin-operated or self-service laundry units; multi-housing laundries, the vended laundry units for apartment buildings, dormitories, and academia; and on-premise laundries, intended for in-house laundry needs of commercial and industrial entities, has accelerated overall momentum in these regional markets. Manufacturers' efforts aimed at offering advanced systems at affordable pricing schemes is also positively influencing market prospects. Especially, technology advancements in terms of performance and design have given massive impetus to market growth in recent years.

Presses Segment to Reach $955.8 Million by 2026

Presses are appliances designed to facilitate finishing quality to laundry. Laundry press includes a polished metal head and a fixed padded buck, which is attached firmly to a metal frame. The buck acts as the worktable and thus its shape and size vary depending upon the function it is designed for. In the global Presses segment, USA, Canada, Japan, China and Europe will drive the 4.7% CAGR estimated for this segment. These regional markets accounting for a combined market size of US$523 Million in the year 2020 will reach a projected size of US$719.3 Million by the close of the analysis period. China will remain among the fastest growing in this cluster of regional markets. Led by countries such as Australia, India, and South Korea, the market in Asia-Pacific is forecast to reach US$204.6 Million by the year 2026. More

The Laundry Evangelist Wants to Save Your Clothes - Mpls.St.Paul Magazine

laundry.indah.link

Patric Richardson doesn’t let life’s stains get him down. In fact, he thrives in messier moments. The owner of MOA boutique Mona Williams—and longtime member of the fashion mafia in town—is also known as the Laundry Evangelist. And thanks to a new show on Discovery+ and his first book, his message on how laundry influences your life is about to unfold.

First, the show. The Laundry Guy takes Richardson into private homes (most of which are right here in the Twin Cities), where he’s tasked with solving textile mishaps and disasters. In one episode, he lifts decades-old oil stains out of an heirloom quilt; in another, he removes a mysterious sticky substance from the vinyl sleeves of a varsity letter jacket with the help of an unusual method. Through it all, his effusive and empathetic nature shines bright—making stories about fabric care feel like so much more. And the book, Laundry Love: Finding Joy in a Common Chore, is part memoir and part how-to guide, with Richardson’s trademark humor running through every page.

Prior to his spring debuts, which were just one day apart, we checked in with Richardson to learn more about the intersection of life, love, and laundry.

•••••

How did you learn to care for clothing?

I love clothes. I was picking out clothes when I was three. And I come from a family who loves clothes: My granny was one of the most well-dressed people ever, and my mom—I’ve described her in the book as “Jackie Kennedy with a southern drawl.” We lived in a very small town in eastern Kentucky, which, for a while, didn’t have a dry cleaner. So we had to figure out how to take care of things, or we couldn’t wear them—and none of us were people who wouldn’t wear something. They started that love affair.

You brought that passion and skill to Mona Williams, where you host sold-out Laundry Camp classes. What piqued people’s interest?

I had a laundry corner in the store so people could buy items to take care of their designer pieces. People started to get interested in the products right away, but after a year or so, they wanted to know more about laundry. We started doing these Laundry Camps once a week, and they were always full, so I kept doing them, and they kept growing, until I was doing eight a week.

How did The Laundry Guy come about?

Somebody from the production company came to Laundry Camp, and they had an idea that it could be a show. We shot a pilot last summer, and the show went from there. I can’t say I’m proud of it, because I don’t want to take credit. The real people who are the stars are the people with the items I care for. When you see it, you’re going to fall in love with these people.

On the show, you teach people how to clean sentimental items. What’s it like to approach something with such an emotional tie?

The truth of the matter is a wedding dress is still just a dress. A baby coat is still a coat. We put such strong emotional ties there that we’re crippled with fear to do anything about them. I want to give them respect, but at the end of the day, it’s a dress and a coat. If you treat them like a dress and a coat, you work your way backward. There’s some detective work involved, trying to piece together what a stain is, what the fabric is. And then you go about caring for it. It’s amazing how much you tie up, and if you think it’s ruined, you might think it’s never going to be as good as it was. And then when you get to see it back like it was, all the emotion comes right back.

Cleaning and organization shows, like Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and Get Organized with The Home Edit, have seen a resurgence in popularity over the last few years. Why do you think that is?

We want to take care of those we love—and ourselves. With those shows, a big part is about regaining control of your home. I think The Laundry Guy fits into that—like, I can do this, I can do laundry, I can take control, and I can enjoy it. I think that’s the biggest thing; it’s telling yourself you can enjoy taking care of your things, and your home, and the whole experience of living. That’s what people want: They want to enjoy the process.

How do the book and the show connect and differ?

The book is about these women in my life that are, and were, important in my life—my granny, my mom, our next-door neighbor, my stepmother—and what I’ve learned from them. And it’s all tied up in a book about laundry. When you read the book, you will learn how to do your laundry, but you’ll also learn about these women who got me started down this path, and how they taught me to love beautiful things and care for them. They gave me the solid foundation that leads to the show. They gave me the idea that you do laundry for the people you love, and you take care of things, and now I get to pass that along to other people.

Any laundry tips you wish people knew?

Always wash in warm, and always use the express cycle—express is long enough to get your clothes clean, and warm is warm enough to activate your detergent. And don’t be afraid to wear things more than once. It drives me crazy that people think they have to wash something every time they wear it, when sometimes it just needs to be steamed. Then clothes wear out faster—and it’s bad for the environment, bad for your wallet, and nobody wins.

The last thing is: Don’t panic; wear your clothes. It breaks my heart that people have their favorite thing and won’t wear it. How upsetting is that? I wear my tuxedo jacket over a concert tee and jeans, because if something goes wrong, I just wash it—it’s no big deal. Once you learn a little more about laundry, you don’t have to be afraid of wearing your favorite thing. You are never going to ruin it unless you set it on fire. And, you know, even then, we’ll talk.

10 Best Ironing Boards to Buy in 2021 - GoodHousekeeping.com

Ironing can be a tedious job — even lugging the ironing board out of the closet can feel like a chore itself. But having a good ironing board can make all the difference. Whether you're interested in using a traditional or tabletop ironing board, or an ironing mat, the ideal ironing surface provides a smooth place to lay clothing flat for the best crease-free results. It should stay stable without wobbling and shouldn't feel like a workout to set up and put away.

Here at the Good Housekeeping Institute Cleaning Lab, we do a lot of ironing, especially when we test steam irons and garment steamers. All of this ironing means we are constantly evaluating ironing boards in the lab as well. In fact, we even do an "iron tip-over test" where we measure how much force it takes to knock an iron over when it's resting upright on the end of an ironing board. Most irons break when the board gets bumped and they fall to the floor, so this is a way for us to check both the stability of the board and the durability of the iron.

In recent years the team has logged hundreds of hours ironing fabric swatches for steam iron testing, cotton shirts for evaluating the wrinkle-preventing performance of clothes washers and dryers, and even the Good Housekeeping Institute lab coats we wear, so we know a great ironing board when we see one. When we test ironing boards, we assess how easy they are to open, close and set up. We also evaluate how smoothly they operate, if they are stable or wobbly, and the weight and bulkiness of the board while carrying it. We look at how much ironing surface they provide, the amount of padding, and how well the cover handles steam and moisture. Helpful add-ons like iron rests, sleeve boards, cord holders and clothes shelves are also taken into account. Below are our picks, a mix of ironing boards we've tested in the lab, editor favorites and those that are highly rated and reviewed online. Here are the best ironing boards of 2021:

Best Professional Ironing Board

FashionMaster
Miele williams-sonoma.com

$2,499.00

Forte says she was amazed by the Miele FashionMaster after testing it in the lab. For anyone who does a lot of ironing, like professional sewers or quilters, the Miele FashionMaster is an ironer's dream. The ultra padded adjustable ironing board works with fans to inflate delicate garments for more gentle pressing or suction thicker materials, like jeans, to the board to help intensify the steam for better wrinkle removal. It pumps out professional level steam pressure to penetrate thicker clothing like blazers. In addition to the iron, there's a garment steamer, an extra-large built-in water tank for long-lasting steam, an LED readout display and a silicone pad to rest the hot iron on. Both the iron and steamer tuck neatly away in a storage chamber and the board folds down vertically so the entire system and can be tilted and rolled away for easy storage. According to Forte, there is a bit of a learning curve but once you master opening and closing it, it's easy to use.

  • Includes an iron and garment steamer
  • Board inflates or draws in air for more professional ironing results
  • Folds and moves on wheels
  • Takes up storage space
