A 25 year-old Regina male is facing several charges of Break, Enter and Commit Theft after his arrest on Friday, May 28th, in connection with several incidents of Break and Enter.
These events, which occurred between April 25th and May 26th, all involved apartment buildings. In each of these cases, someone would break into the buildings, enter the laundry rooms and then use various means of breaking into coin-operated laundry equipment to steal the funds collected therein. These apartment buildings are located in various parts of the city: 1700 block Hamilton Street, Kleisinger Crescent, 1800 block of 7th Avenue, 2100 block of 9th Avenue North, and 400 block Lorne Street. Investigation into these incidents led first to the identification of a vehicle; then a suspect and a search warrant of his residence, where police located evidence of the crimes. The male suspect was arrested and charged.
Twenty-five year-old Cody John JONES, of Regina, is charged with:
- 7 X Break Enter and Commit Theft, s. 348(1)(b) CC; and
- Possession of Instruments to Break Into Coin-Operated Devices, s. 352 CC.
JONES made his first court appearance on these charges before Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Monday, May 31, 2021.
