HAYFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Hayfield Township home was declared a loss following a fire in its laundry room.
Firefighters were called to the scene of 18318 Black Road at around 12:13 p.m. Monday. While the fire was brought under control in only 15 minutes, according to Hayfield Central Hose Company Fire Chief Tim Barr, the home suffered extensive residual damage.
"Just because of the heat and smoke damage, it's a loss," he said.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Barr said a Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is expected to investigate.
Barr said the home was occupied by a husband and wife, and confirmed the home was insured for damages caused by the blaze. There were no injuries reported.
Besides Hayfield, firefighters from the Saegertown, Vernon Central, Vernon Township and West Mead 2 volunteer fire departments responded to the fire.
