Recently, we have been having great fun more about the T.O.O.L mod by TwistedMexi. If you are not familiar with the mod, it allows you to “Take Objects Off Lot” in The Sims 4.
This allows you to do cool things like change windows and doors on apartments in The Sims 4, decorate the balconies of apartments in Evergreen Harbor and so much more.
While this tutorial is straight forward, it does assume you have some understanding or familiarity with the T.O.O.L mod. If you don’t you might want to start with our basic guide first.
There’s a quick video at the end of this tutorial to help you see how to go about doing this. PS: If yo notice a difference in the colour of the washing machines, my machine crashed while recording the first part of this tutorial.
How to build a communal laundry room in The Sims 4 City Living
The best thing to do is to first build your laundry room completely in an adjacent apartment. Make sure it has the same number of squares as the communal space you plan to use.
Lay out all the objects and decorations and once you’re happy, it’s time to start using the magic of T.O.O.L.
You can also move any annoying hallway objects that might be in the way. And yes, you can move or even changes front doors of apartments with the mod, too.
One important thing to note is that moving the stacked washing machines can cause some problems.
It is best to buy the washer and dryer separately – you can still stack them before moving.
When you select them, only select the bottom machine or machines (if you have more than one). You can then group select and move machines together. The top machines should stick and move, too.
For any decorative objects placed on top of counters or washing machines, it is best to move the objects at the same height and in the same grid together.
If you want to close off the communal laundry room in The Sims 4 City Living apartments, you have a few options – depending on which packs you own.
- You could use a screen divider.
- You could use curtains (not shown in the tutorial).
- You can use the taller screens/wall cladding like those shiny ones that came with Eco Lifestyle.
- You can use doors and windows – but they will not have a wall. Doors will remain functional, though. The easiest way to do this is to first draw a wall into the apartment you used to layout your room. Place your door and windows and then use the T.O.O.L mod to move them.
