Suspicious car: Columbia Road
Police went to Olmsted Laundromat about an unoccupied car that was parked near the business at 3:11 a.m. Feb. 22. They found the driver in the car sleeping behind its wheel.
The man told police he was just sleeping while waiting for his laundry to finish. Once his laundry was done, the man collected his clothes and drove away.
Drunken driving: Columbia Road
A motorist called police at 11:10 p.m. Feb. 20 to say that he was following a possible drunken driver who was swerving all over the roadway heading south. Police found the car stopped in a parking lot on Columbia Road.
The motorist began driving away, but officers stopped the car a short distance away. They noticed a strong smell of alcohol and marijuana on the driver while talking with her.
After a short investigation, they determined that she was drunk while driving the car. She was arrested. Her breath sample registered a .306 BAC, which is 3 1/2 times the legal limit. She was released to a sober friend.
Suspicious person: Schady Road
Police received a call at 1:07 a.m. Feb. 21 that a man was knocking on the door of a vacant home. They found the man in the driveway.
He said he knew the house was unoccupied, but said his friend was working on it. The friend owed him money. The man also said his phone was dead and that he was nearly out of gas.
The man’s story apparently checked out OK. Police gave him a courtesy ride to Lorain Road.
