AIE laundry 5.Zero is said to be the first eco-efficient operational centre that is driven and managed by women

Denim finishing technology specialist Jeanologia has partnered with apparel manufacturer Anish India Exports (AIE) to launch what is said to be the world's first sustainable and zero-waste garment finishing plant that is driven and managed by women.

AIE Laundry 5.Zero is the first garment finishing plant that combines Jeanologia's technology guaranteeing zero discharge and obtaining an 85% saving in water.

The facility produces sustainably on an industrial scale by efficiently combining technologies including laser, G2 ozone, e-Flow, Colorbox, and the first water recycling system H2Zero; eliminating all the processes that are harmful to workers and the environment, Jeanologia says.

The Spanish firm has been working with AIE for 21 years to transform the industry and turn the Indian textile industry into one of the most advanced and clean sectors in the world.

The new AIE Laundry 5.Zero plant not only contributes to this goal but also aligns with AIE's mission to enable and empower women across the company. The manufacturer is working to increase its female workforce ratio to 50% across the business.

With the new facility, it aims to drive and lead the change in India, empowering women and establishing a new operational model that brings the sector into the digital era, achieving low impact developments, 98% recycled water and zero waste production, and contributing to achieving Mission Zero goal: dehydrate and detoxify the denim industry by 2025.

Ishita Tandon, chief sustainable officer at Laundry 5.Zero, is the brand ambassador for women leadership in India and her laundry goal environment impact measurement (EIM) is to always remain in the low impact zone of 0-33.

"Women are rising up in India, and this kind of project contributes to embrace these challenges. We are convinced that small actions can make big changes, and a sustainable garment plant led by women in India is the best way to start it," said Carmen Sill, marketing director at Jeanologia.

"Together we form a great team. Anish Export inspires us to improve. We've developed Laundry 5.Zero that eliminates waste and reduces water and toxicity from the jeans production process and AIE is implementing it by using it in mass production, making it real and creating a better world."
