Park Slope Unit With Private Backyard, Chimenea Outdoor Oven, Laundry Asks $3,100 a Month - Brownstoner

laundry.indah.link

This ground-floor one-bedroom in Park Slope offers a private garden and some bonus space in the form of a semi-finished cellar with laundry. The duplex unit is also just a short walk away from Prospect Park, at 459 9th Street.

It’s in a four-family rowhouse within the Park Slope Historic District Extension. The brick Italianate is one of four in a row likely constructed by the same builder between 1869 and 1875. No. 459 has simple brownstone lintels, a door hood with foliate brackets and a bracketed cornice.

A private entrance below the stoop leads to the floor-through unit. It’s set up with a living room at front and bedroom and kitchen at the rear. The foyer is open to the kitchen and includes a staircase with original newel post — presumably the upstairs access is closed off.

The living room at front has wood floors, two windows with wood shutters and a decorative mantel set on an exposed brick wall. The kitchen has typical rental finishes and a dishwasher along with a sliding glass door to the rear garden.

Also with views to the garden is the bedroom, which has two windows, a closet and room for a queen-sized bed. The adjoining bathroom isn’t depicted in the listing photos but according to the listing it is newly renovated and has a tub.

The staircase in the foyer also leads down to the cellar, which isn’t legal living space but is finished with tile floors and white-painted walls and has plenty of room for storage. There’s a bright yellow countertop atop the full-sized washer and dryer. Potentially it could work as music, art, office or storage space, or house a ping-pong table, the listing suggests.

The rear garden has concrete and brick patios and planting beds. It could be livened up with some more planters by someone with a green thumb.

A table, chairs and twinkle lights are included, the listing notes, as is a chimenea, not pictured. The latter is a trendy portable outdoor oven, traditionally from Mexico and made of clay, that can be used to bake, grill or as an outdoor fire.

Pets must be approved and smoking is not permitted in the apartment. Available at $3,100 a month, the unit is listed by Karen Wolfe of Halstead/BHS. Worth the rent?
