Gov. Gavin Newsom is doubling down on his incentive-laden strategy to convince hesitant Californians to get the coronavirus vaccine.
Monday morning, during a stop in San Francisco, Newsom announced a new drawing to complement the “Vax for the Win” lottery – set to culminate on Tuesday – with a new set of drawings to occur on July 1.
Eligible vaccinated Californians will be able to win a “dream vacation” and $2,000 toward travel to the selected destination, per reports.
Where will winners be able to go?
Destinations include San Francisco, Los Angeles, the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage/Palm Springs, San Diego, and Orange County.
Each trip comes with its own highlighted itinerary stop, such as Disneyland, Legoland, SeaWorld, or floor seats at a Lakers game.
Noticeably missing? Napa wine country, where Newsom infamously visited the posh French Laundry Restaurant in Yountville during the depths of California’s coronavirus crunch.
However, the Governor’s announcement noted that “culinary experiences” could be part of vacation winners’ itineraries, leaving open the possibility of a French Laundry stop for a San Francisco trip.
